We are creating a special day dedicated to foster children, allowing them a temporary rest from deprivation, tears, insecurity, multiple homes, and all the other hardships that children should never have to endure.

We are organizing an event featuring eight different competitions for the kids: Football, Handball, Most hotdogs eaten, Garbage collection, Running, Sim-racing, Inuit games, and FIFA 23. Throughout this day, we will strive to create an extraordinary experience filled with smiles, joy, activity, community, and a warm atmosphere.

sustainable development goals - Olympics for placed children

Good health and well-being

Empowering Foster Youth Through 'LOL' – Foster Children's Olympics

Unfortunately, foster children in Denmark exhibit poorer well-being in several areas compared to their peers. This diminished well-being becomes evident in their educational journeys, where in 2016, only 55% of foster children were engaged in regular schooling. This trend persists in their 9th-grade final exams, where the results of foster children are 2 grades below average. Furthermore, less than a quarter of them pursue further education within 6 years after completing compulsory schooling. Additionally, there is a general tendency for foster children's poorer well-being to manifest as increased loneliness and higher rates of absenteeism. Also, foster children often experience difficulties with concentration, lack teamwork skills, and possess lower self-esteem.

Foster children are a vulnerable group, partly due to the aforementioned challenges. Therefore, we aim to make an effort for these children and contribute to potentially enhancing their well-being.
  • "LOL" – Foster Children's Olympics is an event that invites foster children aged 8-17
  • We will create an event in Risskov, hosting around 100 foster children and youths from the East Jutland area.
  • A day centered around the children and the sports community.
  • The children will participate in eight different disciplines: Soccer, Handball, Most Hotdogs Eaten, Waste Collection, Running, FIFA 23, Simrace, and Inuit Games.
We will develop the project in close collaboration with the world's most traveled hot dog stand.
Since 2003, the world's most traveled hot dog cart has initiated and executed social projects worldwide, with a specific focus on neglected children. We also aim to involve organizations and various support programs that work with foster children and youths.
  • This event is made possible by our great doners SMUK BOLD and AFriend.
  • The event is be supported with volunteers through a CSR partnership with AFriend.
This project aims to enhance social sustainability in our society by focusing on a vulnerable group of children and youths by creating an environment where community, solidarity, and enlightenment can flourish, all within the framework of a single day focused on sports and the children.
